Change to Pregnancy Care at PHA
Letter from Dr. Cavallo, 9/3/24
Dear Beloved PHA Patients,
I’m writing to inform you that God has made it clear to me that I am to immediately transition away from delivering babies. I need to spend more time with my wife, four children, granddaughter, and close friends. I have been on call almost every day and night since Susan and I opened PHA in 2011. Although I love being involved in bringing new life into the world, delivering babies is not compatible with this new season of my life.
This means that effective immediately, with extremely rare exceptions, I will not be accepting newly pregnant patients for delivery.
During this time of transition, as patients are seeking and establishing pregnancy care elsewhere, we will provide care until we establish the viability of your pregnancy and confirm that you are progressing appropriately.
Limited Availability for Prenatal Care
For a limited number of patients, we will be able to provide Prenatal Care prior to delivery:
-
For accepted patients who wish to deliver at St. Joe, the physicians at Saint Joseph OB/GYN Specialists have agreed to assume prenatal care at 32 weeks gestation.
-
For accepted patients who want to deliver at Memorial, The Memorial Laborist program, headed up by Dr. Matthew Nash, has agreed to assume care at the end of pregnancy for delivery.
We have verbal commitments and are currently working on written agreements for these arrangements.
To apply for Prenatal Care at PHA, please follow the instructions at the end of this letter. For those who have not been accepted for Prenatal Care: while you work on transferring care to your new OB provider, we will establish the viability of your pregnancy and confirm that you are progressing appropriately. We will be happy to resume your GYN care after you deliver.
Two Important Notes:
1. If you have already been accepted for prenatal care & delivery prior to 9/3/24, this update does not apply to you for this pregnancy. I will still see you all the way through your delivery and post-partum visit. However, this change will apply for any future pregnancy.
2. This change does not affect your gynecological care. I am still seeing patients for GYN problem-based visits and our team is actively accepting new patients for endometriosis, pelvic pain, infertility, and PCOS management.
~
I am so grateful to have been able to serve you in this capacity up to this point. While I’m sad to give up something that I love, I am looking forward to spending more time with my loved ones.
Warmest regards,
Dr. Uthman Cavallo
